Prof. Dr. Gökçe Yurdakul

Prof. Dr. Gökçe Yurdakul (PhD University of Toronto) is the Georg Simmel Professor of Diversity and Social Conflict at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her areas of interest are immigration, intersectionality and citizenship. Yurdakul was the Director of Berlin Institute of Migration and Integration Research (BIM, 2022-2024) and Director of the Institute of Social Sciences at her university (2019-21). She has published extensively on debates surrounding the wearing of the headscarf, so-called “honour-based” violence and public stigma against Muslim men. She actively leads and participates in programs that provide a safe academic environment for researchers who face threats or persecution in their home countries.
